Why players join Stompers
A club, not just a team.
-
01
A squad from everywhere
Our players come from France, Italy, South America, the UK and Malta. You won't be the only new face.
-
02
Straight into the squad
We are a welcoming club, not a closed shop. Come to training and you are part of the team.
-
03
Since 1995
One of Malta's longest-standing rugby clubs, with more than 30 years of history on the island.
-
04
Bring the family
Men's and women's teams, plus a Youth Academy for kids aged 7 to 12.
More than a team
Moving country is hard. A rugby club gives you training partners, a social life and friends from your first week on the island. Two stories from our squad:
-
Feeling at home
One player moved to Malta and wasn't enjoying life on the island. Joining Stompers changed everything: the club made Malta feel like home.
-
Looking out for each other
When one of our players lost a job, the whole club came together to help find a new one.
After training
The squad's social home is Tony's Bar on Triq Mikiel Ang Borg, San Ġiljan, one of the club's sponsors. It is where you'll find us after matches and at club socials.

Moving to Malta FAQ
The questions new arrivals ask us most.
Do I need to speak Maltese?
No. Stompers is an English-speaking club, and the squad includes players from France, Italy, South America and the UK as well as Malta.
I'm arriving mid-season. Can I still join?
Yes. New players can join at any point in the season. Message us before you arrive and we'll tell you when to come to training.
How much does it cost?
Your first few sessions are free, so you can try the club before you commit. After that, just ask us about fees using the form on this page.
What do I need to bring to my first session?
Nothing special. Runners are fine for your first sessions, and football boots work too.
I haven't played for a few years. Is that OK?
Of course. You'll train with the squad and build your fitness back up at your own pace. If you have never played, start with our free beginners course for men and women aged 16+.
Is there a women's team, and rugby for my kids?
Yes. Stompers women train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and the Youth Academy is for boys and girls aged 7 to 12.
